Don Riggle (L) was chosen as our Volunteer of the Month in July for his willingness to always help out!  Kevin Roberts (R) is Main Street Orion's President, and presented Don with the honor.  Don is a member of the Economic Restructuring Committee but he works on many projects.

Just this summer Don has worked on Yard Sale Day, served food and drink at movies, and assisted with the technical parts of designing the website you are looking at!

Thank you very much, Don for all your help!
2010 VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
Main Street Orion’s most valuable resources are our wonderful volunteers! Our 2010 Volunteer of the Year, Lori Sampson has spent countless hours working to keep Orion a town where people want to live, play, work and shop.  We could even say Volunteer of the Century because Lori has been with us throughout the entire 2000’s!!  Main Street Orion is lucky to have her as our friend!

Lori Sampson is the Orion Village Clerk and has served the community in that capacity since 1979.  She has a special interest in historic structures in Orion, previously  working as a volunteer for Main Street Orion’s Design Committee.  Lori was instrumental is securing Historic Landmark status for Central Park’s Band Shell and Orion’s west water tower.

Lori has served as a Main Street Orion board member and as the board’s secretary for the last 6 years, and currently chairs the Band Shell Entertainment Committee.  Lori also served as an advocate on the Illinois Historic Sites Advisory Council.  She and her husband Bart have been married for 29 years and both are lifelong residents of Orion.
After more than eleven years with our organization, Lori plans to scale back her volunteer activities a bit.  Main Street Orion will certainly miss her daily input and wisdom, as well as her organizational qualities.  Lori says, we will see her at our concerts and movies, only this time as an audience member. Lori plans to continue to volunteer quietly, behind the scenes for Main Street Orion.  Thank you, Lori for your many years of service and we congratulate you on being chosen as our Volunteer of the Year!
Volunteer of the Month
When determining who to select for our Volunteer Of The Month for June, it was impossible to choose just one! Both of these ladies went above and beyond the normal call of duty! We issue a hearty THANK YOU to sisters, Sarah Nedved and Stephanie Moen for all of their efforts and special talents with the Rhubarb Pie Project!

Thanks again, Sarah and Stephanie!
